what people are saying about embodied.
I have listened to Episode 1 of "embodied." and it is mesmerizing. I am blown away by how powerful and insightful the content of this conversation is. In truth, I was walking through Downtown Los Angeles while listening to "embodied." on my headphones, and their were times where I had to stop walking and verbally acknowledge out-loud. "This is amazing!" "They did it!"
There is a voice of the people that has been missing in the landscape of digital media; "embodied" has found that voice. Gem after gem, "embodied." will arrive and will bring you with it. It is not to be missed. Jason Whittier, CA |
Embodied' does something very important. Not only does it welcome those outside of its putative cultural milieu, the curators take seriously the need to engage with the problematic and thorny issues that trouble a straightforward narrative of black activism. In the first episode, Justin Campbell asks his guest: "How have you reconciled the church's position on our queer brothers and sisters?" Straight up. These are the issues that need to be tackled when it comes to true, powerful, and effective intersectional politics and it's about time they're addressed. Queer men, trans black women, black lesbians. Where do they fit into BLM? The black church? I'm confident Embodied will tackle these issues and that's what makes this podcast worth listening to.

This podcast is revolutionary. It has already inspired me to learn more and discuss topics I have yet to discuss. Anyone who is even slightly interested in having real discussions about injustices in America should listen to this. The movement will not be televised but it will be on podcast!!! Great job guys!!

The mechanics of the podcast is full of dense integration and thoughtful dialogue. Infused with sonic, socially imaginative critical consciousness. So listen with the proper ear-buds and the volume adjusted to the sound of a hopeful imagination.

After previewing the first episode of the "embodied" podcast, I can safely say that a new podcast has made its way into my rotation. Justin has a casual interview style that puts his subjects at ease, yet he knows exactly when to cut to the heart of a topic with an expertly timed question. Issues of race, youth, and spirituality are explored fearlessly, but not without a sense of lightness and humour. The first episode is just part one of a longer conversation which left me eager to hear more.

Real Realities vs. Bloated Statements. Physical presence isn’t glossed over in “embodied.” Deep ideas, curious follow up questions, perspectives different from mine. Inviting me to engage as a participant not a defendant. “embodied.” goes 3D out of the realm of "Cool story bruh” to “Thank you for your story, yes, keep doing what you’re doing”. Big pictures AND snapshots, follow paths as they developed and where they are going, soon you will see your next step.
